Ocean Frontier Lab ~Exploring Marine Animal Life~
Using a technique called bio-logging, in which small recording devices and cameras are attached to animals to record their behavior and surrounding environments, we study the lives of marine animals that are difficult to observe directly, particularly whales, dolphins, and seals. Based on fundamental science aimed at understanding animal ecology, our research group also explores the coexistence of wildlife and humans, the impacts of climate change and human activities on animals, and the relationship between the ocean and people from a humanities perspective.
