The Resource Bank City 2026

The Hiroya Tanaka Lab conducts research under the vision of The Resource Bank City. This concept reimagines the city as a bank: people deposit resources into the city, the city manages them, and people can then withdraw the resources to utilize them in the city. The lab explores methodologies for realizing this vision, conducting practical experiments in mid-sized cities with populations of 100,000 to 200,000. This exhibition draws on the labs collective research -including the Sagami Future Coast Reef Project- as well as individual student projects, inviting visitors to explore the possibilities of The Resource Bank City together.
