Fujisawa City Special Exhibition “Campus Country” -Fujisawa City Planning and SFC Initiatives-
A special exhibition is being held as a joint project between Fujisawa City and Keio University SFC. The Kenko-to-Bunka-no-Mori (Health and Culture Forest) district, where SFC is located, is one of the six urban hubs set out in Fujisawa City’s Urban Master Plan. Starting with the opening of SFC in 1990, the area has seen community development that makes the most of its character while coexisting with rich nature and pastoral landscapes, including Shonan Keiiku Hospital in 2017, Endo Sasakubo-yato Park in 2022, and the H Village student dormitory in 2023. Looking ahead, an urban development of approximately 36 hectares through a land readjustment project, and the establishment of a new station through the extension of the Izumino Line, are under consideration.
This special exhibition introduces the Health and Culture Forest district from a variety of perspectives, including its positioning and vision, proposals by students, and the changes in the area around SFC. It also presents SFC’s sustainable campus initiatives and examples of regional collaboration, exploring SFC’s place in this area, the current atmosphere of growing appeal and vitality, and future possibilities.
This exhibition is realized through industry-academia-government-citizen collaboration among Fujisawa City, the Fujisawa Health and Culture Forest District Land Readjustment Association, Fujita Corporation (the project agent), and Keio University Shonan Fujisawa Campus.
