Ishibuchi RIeko Lab ~Shakespeare Reimagined: A Staged Reading at SFC~
The Ishibuchi Rieko Lab, which began in the 2024 academic year, is dedicated to humanities research with a focus on theatre and performance studies. For the 2025 academic year, our theme is theatre and gender. We are exploring what perspectives Shakespeare's plays, written in England 400 years ago, offer us in the 21st century. One of the distinctive features of our lab is the student-led theatre workshop, where students enhance their understanding of Shakespeare's plays by actively engaging in the practical aspects of directing and acting. To share our findings with a wider audience, we will perform a staged reading with a mini-lecture on theatre studies at SFC.
