Working with Community: Karada-kan and Tsuruoka Metabolomics Cohort Study in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture

We introduce two projects based in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata-prefecture. Karada-kan is a project for health and wellbeing of citizens, which celebrates its 18th anniversary this year. Residents take the lead in creating learning opportunities, developing health education materials such as games. They are actively participating as creators, innovators, and coordinators. Meanwhile, the Tsuruoka Metabolomics Cohort Study (so-called Tsuruoka Mirai Health Survey) is an epidemiological study now in its 13th year, generating numerous evidence-based findings on healthy longevity. At ORF2025, both projects will demonstrate how they are realizing the concept of working together with residents, showcasing the dynamic process of empowerment and mutual interaction.
