The Microbial Genomics and Environmental Bioinformatics Research Group of the Advanced Biosciences seminar employs computational and DNA sequence data analysis techniques to understand the diversity and evolution of microorganisms that are not visible to the naked eye. Students belonging to this group conduct research on microbiomes of urban and built environments, antimicrobial-resistant pathogenic bacteria such as Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), and mobile genetic elements like plasmids and viruses.
