Fujisawa City Special Lecture and Special Exhibition

Special Lecture by Mayor of Fujisawa City “Fujisawa City Planning and SFC”

The Fujisawa City “forest of health and culture” district, where Keio University Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC) is located, is one of the six urban bases listed in the Fujisawa City Urban Master Plan which advocates "a campus town that creates the future".

Beginning with the establishment of SFC in 1990, the Shonan Keiiku Hospital in 2017, the Endosasakuboyato Park in 2022, and the H Village student dormitory in 2023, the community has steadily developed, taking advantage of local strengths, coexisting with abundant nature and rural spaces. With a land re-zoning project planned for an area of approximately 36 hectares, the “forest of health and culture” district is progressing toward its goal of becoming a prosperous community.

Furthermore, SFC and Fujisawa City have been cooperating in a variety of fields, including the signing of a comprehensive partnership agreement in 2009, promising a relationship that will continue to build the future of this community together.

The event will feature a special lecture by Tsuneo Suzuki, Mayor of Fujisawa City, on the topic of "Fujisawa City Planning and SFC" and a dialogue with Tomoki Kamo, Dean of the Faculty of Policy Management, both of whom will share their thoughts on the community and its advantages and possibilities.

Fujisawa City Special Exhibition “Campus Country” -Fujisawa City Planning and SFC Initiatives-

Fujisawa City and Keio University SFC will be holding a joint special exhibition. The Fujisawa City “forest of health and culture” district, where Keio University Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC) is located, is one of the six urban bases listed in the Fujisawa City Urban Master Plan. Future plans include urban development of approximately 36 hectares through a land re-zoning project and the establishment of a new station by extending the Sotetsu Izumino Line.

This special exhibition will introduce the present and future vision of Fujisawa City from various perspectives, including a full overview of the “forest of health and culture” district, the future vision of the community, initiatives in other districts, and proposals and research presentations by current students. In addition, the exhibition will introduce SFC's sustainable campus initiatives and examples of regional collaboration, and explore SFC's position in the community, its current growing attractions and liveliness, and its future possibilities.

This exhibition has been organized through an industry-academia-government-public collaboration between Fujisawa City, Fujita Corporation, and Keio University Shonan Fujisawa Campus.

(The special lecture will be held in Japanese.)
