Mottainai is not only about not doing wasteful things, but also about the respect for nature, the life you have and the gratitude for the people who made it. When we say mottainai, we could be talking about unused or unexploited human capital (health workers), dilapidated physical capital (health infrastructure) or financial wastage and inefficiency. This is a phrase uttered by many Japanese in various aspects of life. Nobel Peace Prize winner Kenyan activist Wangari Maathai learned this phrase while visiting Japan and helped promote it globally. The exhibit will show the proposed solutions to food and time loss in campus life as well as recent student projects and faculty research in reducing, reusing and recycling (3R).
